Saitō Jirōtarō Thesiger CollectionPortrait of a thirty four year old Japanese man named Sait Jirtar, a samurai and officer (performing the function of censor) on the 1864 Ikeda mission to France. He is pictured wearing traditional dress of kimono with mon (family emblem) and is carrying a katana (long sword). Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
